"Education is not something which the teacher does, but it is a natural process which develops spontaneously in the human being. It is not acquired by listening to words, but by experiences upon the environment."--Dr. Maria Montessori

Khalsa Montessori School has been serving the Tucson area since 1975. Since the beginning, we have offered an alternative holistic learning environment to Tucson families. With a vision to support the well being of the child's body, mind and spirit, we have provided a vegetarian, sugar-free, peaceful home away from home.

Starting as a small infant and toddler school, we have slowly grown with the encouragement of parents and now provide early childhood programs for infants through kindergarten, and the charter school which offers elementary (k-6) and middle school (grades 7-8).

The Montessori classroom is a stimulating learning environment consciously prepared to invite exploration and discovery. Children work independently or in small groups. Self-directed hands-on learning is encouraged with increasing degrees of freedom and responsibility as the child grows and matures.

Our Montessori classrooms are at two locations. The River Road School hosts a middle school class and three classrooms at each level--infant/toddler, pre-k, lower elementary (grades 1-3), and upper elementary (grades 4-6), as well as after school and summer programs. Outdoor spaces include playgrounds, athletic fields, gardens and desert habitat on a 5.4 acre campus. The Camden Street School is in a quiet midtown neighborhood close to the downtown and university areas. The small cozy school setting has classrooms for kindergarten through third grade.

We invite you to explore our website to learn more about each of our programs and campuses. Please contact us if you would like more information or would like to enroll a child at Khalsa Montessori School.
